Counterpoint Report : How did Big Smartphone players fared in Q2, 2019 in India.

Indian smartphone market has recorded a phenomenal performance in Q2.

Following are the details on smartphone shipments and top brands.

The latest Counterpoint Research report focuses on smartphone shipments in India for the period between April and June. 37 million units were moved during Q2 which is a new record and a incredible leap compared to the same period last year.

BBK group which encompasses Oppo, vivo, Realme and OnePlus is the largest smartphone manufacturer in India with a 30% combined share. Asus, Nokia HMD, Realme and OnePlus are the fastest growing brands on a yearly basis.

Xiaomi is yet again the top smartphone brand in India with 28% market share owing to its expanding device portfolio and offline sales initiative. Samsung retains the second spot with 25% backed by the refreshed Galaxy A and M lines, while vivo completes the top three with its 11% market share owing to Y91 series. Rolling out the top-five are Realme and Oppo from the BBK clan.

                                         India, the price sensitive market has amplified the sweet-spot from  INR 10,000-20,000 price band and continues to remain  the biggest contributor in the India smartphone segment this year.

Brands are concentrating on pulling off the latest premium level specifications such as notch display, full-screen view, multiple rear cameras, pop up selfie feature and in-display sensor technology in this segment to induce consumer demand.

On the other end of the spectrum, the premium smartphone category was dominated by OnePlus which edged out Samsung owing to the flagship brand One Plus 7 duo.
